One of our favourite features of the Roehampton building is the Green Roof which helps make Roehampton a Toronto Green Standards Tier 2 building.
What are the benefits of having a Green Roof?
1.Aesthetic
“Urban Greening” has become an excellent and very effective strategy for beautifying buildings and communities in urban areas.
2. Waste Diversion
Green roofs can contribute to landfill diversion by prolonging the life of waterproofing membranes while reducing the use of associated waste and promotes the use of recycled materials.
3. Rain Water Absorption
With green roofs, water is stored by the substrate and then taken up by the plants from where it is returned to the atmosphere through transpiration and evaporation.
4. Improved Air Quality
The plants on green roofs can capture airborne pollutants and filters them into cleaner, healthy air.
